Book Consignment Information
Thank you for your interest in having your book available at Casita Bookstore. We are proud to support independent authors, small presses, and storytellers whose work reflects the diverse voices of our community.
Our Mission
Casita Bookstore is a community-centered bookstore that prioritizes stories from diverse, underrepresented, and marginalized voices. We are especially interested in books that amplify perspectives from BIPOC, immigrant, LGBTQ+, and other historically excluded communities. Our goal is to create a welcoming literary space where readers can discover stories that reflect the richness and complexity of our world.
Because of this mission, we carefully review each consignment request to ensure it aligns with the values and interests of our readers and community.
Consignment Terms
Books accepted on consignment are sold under the following terms:
Commission Split:
• 65% of the retail price goes to the author/publisher
• 35% goes to Casita Bookstore
Payment:
Payments for sold books are issued periodically (typically every 60–90 days). Authors will be contacted regarding sales and payment.
Pricing:
Retail pricing should be clearly indicated and competitive with standard market pricing.
Submission Requirements
To be considered for consignment, please provide the following:
Book Preview
We request a way to review your book before making a decision. This can be provided by:
• A digital preview (PDF of the first few pages or sample chapters emailed to us), OR
• A physical copy dropped off or mailed to the bookstore for review.
If Your Book Is Accepted
If your book is accepted for consignment:
• We ask that you bring no more than 3 copies to initially carry in the store.
• Books should be clearly labeled with the retail price.
• Authors may be invited to participate in events, readings, or community programming when appropriate.
Please Note
• Space in the store is limited, and not all submissions can be accepted.
• Books must be in new condition and professionally bound.
• Casita Bookstore is not responsible for lost or damaged items, though we handle all materials with care.
